America, Run From Dunkin

At the very least, stay away from the new "Cocoa Donuts" they're slinging. I had high hopes for these dark delectables, but a few bites in those dreams were dashed. They're not bad, exactly, but these imports from the land of chocolate turned out to be fairly standard servings of circular sugar.

One clue to the issue is in the name – Cocoa Donuts vs. Chocolate Donuts. I don't think Dunkin went with the former because it sorta rhymes with Donut, I think it's because they aren't really like, um, chocolate. Instead, they fall into the trap of foods that are flavored like their color. Much like Kool-Aid that just tastes vaguely red instead of actually cherry or strawberry, rather than offering up rich chocolate, Cocoa Donuts come off just kind of... brown.

So at the end of the day (or beginning, more likely) the best part of these donuts are the names. From the adorable Cocoa Confetti to the potentially filthy Reverse Boston Kreme, they're more fun to order than to actually eat. Pass.
